Out for Lunch
One day, a man went out to buy lunch at Rose Garden, a Chinese restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
However, he never expected what he’d walk into.
Recording the Incident
OP (Original Poster) posted a video in Reddit’s Public Freakouts thread showing a male customer seemingly losing his cool as he picked up his food order at the restaurant’s window.
A Father and Son Duo
In the video, it’s clear that the man was accompanied by a young boy, presumably his son. The two were standing at the side of the counter, and the man could be heard arguing with the restaurant staff and some of the other customers in the area.
Give Me a Refund!
The man allegedly saw a Buddha statue on display in the restaurant. He then demanded the restaurant refund him because of the statue he saw.
Buddha is an Asian spiritual leader who founded Buddhism, but what does the statue have to do with the man and his money?
Against His Beliefs
It turns out that the man is a Christian. So, the Buddha statue goes against his beliefs.
The man said, “I’m Christian!” He also mentioned that he was “offended” by the Buddha statue he saw.
There’s Nothing We Can Do
Since the issue escalated, the restaurant manager stepped out and told the man there was nothing they could do. However, the man kept insisting on a refund.
So, the restaurant manager ultimately advised him to call the Health Department if he had a problem with the “restaurant’s imagery.”
There’s No Point to This
The restaurant manager headed back inside, but the man had yet to finish his religious protest. So, he turned to argue with another customer waiting for his food.
The other customer told the man he was just “lost” and his argument on the case was “dumb.”
Things Keep Escalating
This angered the Christian man, so he told the other customer to “stop getting aggressive.” He also claimed that a Buddha statue had no place in the restaurant.
A Disgrace!
The Christian man started yelling at the other customer, saying, “You don’t want to hear the truth!” Since the other man was also a Christian, he said, “You’re giving all of us a bad name.”
He continued to remind him of the famous Christian saying and belief that one should “love thy neighbor,” even if others don’t have the same opinions as they do. However, the man just ignored the other customer.
I Serve Him!
Nothing got through to the man, and he just kept making several references to Jesus Christ, one of the main foundations of the religion itself.
One of his claims was that he “serves Jesus Christ!”
Enough of Your Antics
After a few minutes of his religious protest, it’s clear that the other customers are getting annoyed by his antics. One even shouted, “Shut up, sir!”
Unclear Resolution
The video OP shared was four minutes long. However, it ended without showing whether the man got his refund or not.
Even so, many Redditors flocked to the comments sections to give the man a piece of their minds.

For the community, the man’s actions were simply dumb.
This top commenter said, “Dumb people have so many problems with everything.” Another wrote, “The problem is, before the internet, stupid people were generally alone in their idiocy. Like, your town had that one person that everybody knew was just a f****** m****. Kids would be told not to listen to a thing that person said because everything they said was wrong. Then the internet came, and the imbeciles found each other. They formed collective groups. They started podcasts. They shared their non-ideas. Then these oatmeal brains started telling other people that we should ‘respect other people’s beliefs and ideas.’”

People also called the man out for trying to force his beliefs on others.
“Christians are getting weirder each year. They have completely abandoned actual Jesus’s teachings and just started using his name to support their dumba** ideas. I’m a Christian, and I don’t support this m****,” commented one user. Another wrote, “For God so loved the world, that He demanded a refund on his takeout because the Chinese restaurant owner has different beliefs.”
Poor Kid
Some Redditors zoomed in on the kid the man was with and said that it was unfortunate that he had to witness something like this.
One wrote, “Felt bad for the kid. I would have stopped engaging the adult and told the kid straight up that his dad is a f****** idiot and to never trust what he says. When the kid gets old enough, he’ll look back on that moment and think, ‘D***, that random dude at the Chinese restaurant was right.’”
