OP (Original Poster) is a 16-year-old boy who goes to a British international school. He was able to attend because his father had paid for him to have the best education.
The New Man
OP’s dad got custody of him after he divorced OP’s mom several years prior to OP posting this story. After the divorce, OP’s mom married the man she had cheated on OP’s father with.
A New Brother
However, problems started when OP’s stepdad couldn’t afford to send his own son, OP’s stepbrother Jack, to a nice school like OP attended. It got so bad that OP’s mom even tried to get OP’s dad to stop sending him to the school he’s attending!

OP’s mom claimed that it “wasn’t fair” that he went to a nice school while his stepbrother couldn’t. His dad was not impressed by the argument and said “no” to dismiss the entire issue.
Changing Tactics
Since OP lived with his dad, his mom had to visit him whenever his father wasn’t home to persuade him. She would say things like he “didn’t have to go to a fancy school.”
Putting Pressure
OP’s mom would even ask him about whether or not he’d bring up the situation with his dad. She had even accused her own son of having “elitist hobbies” because of the school he went to.

According to OP, this “elitist hobby” his mother detested was reading Shakespeare. Needless to say, OP didn’t agree with his mother at all.

OP told his mother that none of this had been his fault. After all, his mom had already told him that the reason his stepdad couldn’t afford it was because he spent all his money on his mistress.

OP went further and told his mother that he wasn’t going to destroy his education for a person he doesn’t know that well.

At this point, OP noticed that his mom was looking really sad. Before she left, she told him he was being “inconsiderate of her feelings” and had left without another word.
