This Redditor tried to solve his problems with his neighbor amicably, but she refused to cooperate. So, he has no choice but to have her kicked out of the building!
Communal Parking Lot

OP (Original Poster) and his wife lived in a small complex with a communal parking lot; no reserved spaces existed.
Happy Birthday, Wife!

OP’s wife invited a friend of hers over to celebrate her birthday. On this specific day, there happened to be a tree that had fallen in the lot, and it blocked half of it; it was in the process of getting cleared.
No Parking Spaces Left

The parking lot was full when their guest arrived, apart from two parking spaces for people with disabilities. However, this was not a problem since their friend had a valid handicap tag.
She asked if she was allowed to park there, and OP said yes since she was legally allowed to. Only one person in the building could use the disabled parking space, and that person could park in the other slot.
Night Out

They got ready to go out, and when they left to go to OP’s car, he noticed that the vehicle usually parked in the disabled spot was parked directly behind their friend’s car—blocking her in.
The weird thing was she had left the other disabled parking space open.
Asking for Assistance

To solve this, OP went to the apartment manager and nicely asked him to have his neighbor move her car by morning.
OP left it at that and had a nice night out clubbing.
Nothing Changed

They returned around three in the morning, and when OP checked, the car was still parked behind their friend’s car.
This time, he called the police.
3 AM Wake-up Call

When the police showed up, they laughed. They asked OP, “Why didn’t she just park in the next spot?”
OP said he didn’t know why, so even if it was 3:30 AM, an officer said, “Well, let’s go wake her up and ask!”
Annoyed Neighbor

The police officer knocked on his neighbor’s door, woke her up, and told her to move her car. However, OP’s neighbor was annoyed and yelled, “That’s my spot, and I’m teaching someone a lesson!”
The officer then tried explaining that it was not her personal spot and there was, in fact, another open spot next to it which was closer to her door.
Move Your Car!

Again, the officer instructed her to move her car immediately. OP also shared that the cop told her to “think about what she was going to say next because she was close to going to jail.”
OP’s neighbor begrudgingly moved her car out of the way.
Bigger Issue

After that, she never talked to OP again. However, it was not the end of the whole fiasco.
OP wrote, “She had also yelled at the apartment manager when he asked her to move it. Turns out she was behind in her rent, so they started eviction proceedings.”
I Even Got Paid

To top it all off, OP even got paid $150 by the apartment manager to take her stuff and throw it in the building’s dirty basement!
Redditors’ Two Cents

People said his neighbor should have thought twice before drawing negative attention to herself.
A top commenter said, “If you’re already late on your rent, it’s generally a bad idea to draw more attention to yourself.” Then, another sarcastically remarked, “But it was ‘her’ space, unlike the apartment she wasn’t paying for.”
Poor Decisions

Redditors couldn’t believe how many mistakes OP’s neighbor committed and guessed it was probably rooted in a lack of self-awareness.
“She was late on her rent, and she made a huge stink that got the cops involved. She was even warned. These are only the latest in a long, long line of poor decisions and lack of self-awareness that has followed her entire life. I’m sure if a friend were to ask about her troubles, she would claim that none of them was her fault,” commented a user.
Dumb or Entitled?

Some people also think OP’s neighbor was either stupid to do something like this, or she just thought she was entitled.
One said, “I don’t know if it’s people getting vastly dumber or more entitled, but it’s a very depressing trend!” Another Redditor exclaimed, “Little did she know that the person she was teaching a lesson to was herself.”
What do you think about OP’s neighbor? Do you think it was only right for him to involve the police?
