In Reddit’s Public Freakout thread, users get a show of a lifetime when they see a toddler who seems to be “running wild” on a long flight while her parents do nothing to control her.
Flying With Kids

Every flier knows the possible dreadful situation when there’s a young child on board. However, apart from a few cries here and there, their parents usually get a hold of the overall situation and can calm their kids down.
A Nightmare

Sadly, the same did not happen to one of the passengers flying with OP (Original Poster) on an eight-hour flight.
OP posted a nine-second clip of a young child misbehaving on the plane.
The Child’s Behavior

Some of the things the toddler was doing was standing on the plane seat’s table and jumping on top of it.
Apart from that, she was also shouting at her parents. Because of her jumping, the seat the man in front was sitting on started to shake, and the table seemed near its breaking point, unable to hold the child’s weight.
Trying to Ignore Her

The man sitting in front of the couple with the toddler tried to remain calm and ignore the child’s disturbance. However, the toddler started grabbing his headrest, too.
How It Ended

The clip was short, but it ended with the child facing her parents, probably her mom. However, no part of the video showed that the parents were trying to control their kid.
Redditors’ Reactions

Redditors are appalled by what they have just witnessed. They couldn’t believe that parents would allow their kids to act this way in public, especially considering their toddler clearly inconvenienced another person.
I Will Feel Like a Failure

One said they would feel like a failure should their child do something similar, and they just stood by idly, doing nothing.
Another wrote, “My only kid is a tornado, and no f*****g would I allow her to behave this way in public, let alone on a flight.”
Chill Out?

Some people called out the kid’s parents for bad parenting.
One said, “Idiot parents be like: it’s just a kid being a kid; chill out.” Another said, “A parent willing to let their kid act like that is not going to listen to someone asking them to stop.”
Why Is He Just Letting Things Happen?

Some Redditors also pointed out the reaction of the man in front. They were amazed by how unphased he was with everything the kid was doing.
Because of that, some were speculating he might be the child’s father or a relative.
This Is Dangerous!

However, even if the man seemed unbothered, the community still wants the child’s parents to be accountable and responsible for their child.
One wrote, “The parent is a moron. Not only is this rude; it’s f*****g dangerous.”
Child-Free Sections Are a Must!

An impactful comment from a Redditor went, “They really need to implement child-free sections on planes.”
Children crying or playing on the plane is sometimes not so bad since their parents try to reprimand them and show them what should and shouldn’t be done. However, this clearly doesn’t apply to the toddler and her parents in the video.
Suggestions

Some Redditors who fly frequently also gave sound advice on handling any similar cases moving forward.
One said, “Ask politely once. Beyond that, don’t engage; call over the flight attendant. They will ask them to stop, and if they refuse, they’ll usually move you to an upgraded seat if available. If no seat is available and the aggressor keeps it up, they’ll usually have an air marshal come over if one is available, but this is super rare.”
They’d Be Blacklisted

Another Redditor explained that air marshals usually fly anonymously, so if they are called to action, the parents responsible for the toddler should already be expected to be blacklisted from the airline.
He said, “If an air marshal has to identify themselves—they fly anonymously although if they’re armed, the crew is aware—it’s already game over for that passenger being on a blacklist. Probably game over on leaving the airport without cuffs too.”
What Do You Think About All the Chaos?

What would you do if you were the man being inconvenienced by the toddler? What would you do if you were the child’s mom or dad?
