Meet James and Max
OP has an 18-year-old nephew named James. He has severe anxiety and panic attacks, so he never goes anywhere without his service dog, Max.
Max is well-trained and well-behaved, and OP knows how much help he has been for her nephew.
The Issue
The problem is that OP is severely allergic to dogs! She can have a severe allergic reaction by just being around them for long periods.
She said her family is also aware of this issue.
Strict Rules
Because of the possible severe consequences OP might face if she comes in contact with a dog, she and her soon-to-be husband were pretty strict with the invites.
They explicitly mentioned that no pets would be allowed during the event.
An Exemption?
Her nephew, James, and his parents approached the couple to ask if Max could be an exemption to the couple’s no pets policy. After all, they said that, “He is a service dog and not just a pet.”
