He Was Fired for Putting a Guy to Sleep in a Bar After He Tried Hitting Someone With a Pool Stick. His Petty Revenge Was Petty But Beautiful!

This Redditor was just trying to do his job. So, when he got fired for it, he made sure to get his revenge!

One of Two Jobs

OP (Original Poster) worked two jobs, one being a bouncer in a bar. He said the bar was situated outside his city, and though it was pretty small, it was one of the few bars in the area.

So, it would still get busy with all the “good ol’ boys and old field guys.”

As a bouncer, OP worked the door, checked people’s IDs, and more. He would also have to break up a couple of fights or kick people out.

However, the bar owner was “very hands-on,” so much so that OP referred to him as a micromanager. The owner didn’t want OP to kick people out unless they were throwing punches.

And, even when they were, OP was asked to try and talk to them first. He was also told never to cut anyone off and to always have that “always be selling” attitude.

A Night Packed With Trouble

One night, while OP was working, some trouble came up between some regulars. During the fight, one guy tried to hit another person with a pool stick.

OP tried to mediate and ended up getting him in the arm. So, to avoid more issues, he ended up “putting the guy to sleep.”

The next day, the manager called OP and told him he was getting let go. OP said, “Apparently, the pool stick guy spends a lot of money, and me putting him to sleep left him bitter, so he called the owner.”

Scheming His Revenge

OP accepted their decision, but it doesn’t mean he would just let them go on their merry way without consequences. So, he started cooking up the best revenge!

He noted that the bar had a fancy jukebox. When someone has the app on their phone, they can pick whatever song they like, pay using their credit card, and the music will play!

Songs Are Unskippable!

OP also shared that the songs on the jukebox were practically unskippable. If you turn the jukebox off, it will still play when it starts back up.

The only way to go around this is to use the master remote. However, they lost the remote, so the people in the bar couldn’t do anything but wait if a song they didn’t like played; he said, “Even if they unplug it, it’ll play no matter what when they turn it on.”

On One Packed Night

Every Tuesday, the bar’s owner does inventory. Tuesday was also a hectic night because they did pool tournaments.

So, OP decided to choose a song that would play repeatedly, and the people in the bar wouldn’t be able to do anything about it!

He had $20 in credit, which would give him more or less 18 unskippable songs. He could even have more if the jukebox app gives him more credit.

Hilarious Choice and Impeccable Timing

Of the many options OP had, he chose a remix of Cotton Eye Joe, which “comes in at around seven minutes a pop, usually when the pool tournament started.”

Killing the Mood

So far, OP’s chosen song has played for two hours straight. He said, “Two hours of hearing the same song has killed their business on Tuesdays.”

OP was so happy with his revenge because even if they unplugged it, the remix of Cotton Eye Joe would continue to play! He said he’d been doing the same things for two months so far.

Not Stopping Anytime Soon

OP got the news that the owner had to buy a new jukebox, which cost around $5,000! He said he would stop with the revenge for about a month but continue again after some time.

The Community’s Take on the Matter

There was a big handful of Redditors who were stoked with the way OP handled his revenge.

One said, “This is why I come here. A beautiful, petty revenge; hats off to you, OP!” Another replied and said it was “the best” revenge.

Different Opinions

However, there were also a few who thought OP went too far.

This person said, “There is nothing petty about ruining someone’s livelihood.” Even so, one sarcastically answered him and said, “You’re right. OP’s boss was definitely a jerk for firing him for only doing his job. What a petty tool!”

Do you think OP went too far, too? Or would you have done the same if you were in his shoes?
