OP (Original Poster) worked at a place with a deeded parking garage, with each space owned by one of the residents.
The problem is that there was a vast difference between the number of parking spots and the number of units. OP shared that there were only 75 spots and 300 units.
No Parking Spot?
She explained that if you didn’t own a deeded parking space, you had to get a permit to park your car on the street. Another option would be to find a parking garage somewhere in the neighborhood.
Meet Granny and the Grifting Couple
There’s a sweet, old lady OP called Granny, who owned a Mini Cooper and had her own deeded parking space.
On the flip side, a couple that rented one of the units didn’t have their own parking slot. However, they had the audacity to “plant their economy car” in Granny’s spot.
Park Somewhere Else!
When Granny complained and asked the couple to move their car, the renters would say they were “entitled” to the spot. They added that because there were so many empty parking spaces, Granny “could park somewhere else.”
OP didn’t know what they didn’t understand about the concept of a “deeded parking” slot.
Changing Her Demeanor
Granny let the couple be for some time, and OP said it continued until “the sweet old lady decided to be not-so-sweet.”
One day, Granny pulled her car in front of the couple’s car and parked bumper to bumper, trapping them in! OP added, “She put a note on their car saying, ‘Parking in this space is $150 a day. Please, leave a check with the concierge.’”
Verbal Attacks
Because of this, the couple showed up at OP’s desk, “b*******” about their car being blocked by Granny’s vehicle. They also expected OP to have Granny’s car towed!
So, OP had to explain what “deeded parking” meant and that OP couldn’t tow Granny’s car, just like how she couldn’t rearrange the furniture in their apartment. She said, “It’s her land; she owns it. You abandoned your car on her property; talk to Granny.”
Granny, SOS!
Twenty minutes had passed, and the couple hadn’t stopped “b*******,” so OP had no choice other than to call Granny, even if it was so early in the morning.
Granny came down to the desk “in her housecoat and slippers with her dog in tow.”
Move Your Car, Please!
The couple started begging Granny to move her car so they could get out. However, Granny just reiterated what she had left on the note. She told them it would cost them $150 and that they must leave the money with the concierge.
More Arguments Ensued
The couple continued “b*******” again, and Granny told them it would now cost them an additional $50 because they woke her up in the morning, claiming there was an emergency.
Then, the exasperated couple asked Granny how long it would be before she left the garage.

Since that day, the couple never parked their car in Granny’s spot again. As a bonus, Granny even got paid for it!
