Troublesome Sister
OP’s (Original Poster) older sister had been a troublemaker for as long as she could remember. She had some trouble with drugs, alcohol, and the law their entire life.
She wrote, “She has been Baker-Acted no less than 20 times since her 18th birthday and has actually technically died twice due to her decisions. She’s back by the grace of the medical professionals treating her.”
The One Who’s Always Stepping In
Throughout everything, OP’s dad would always step in and bail her sister out on anything—whether it be jail or missing rent payments.
Sadly, her sister never learned her lesson. She’d lose all her money because of drugs, and her dad would have to save her from her troubles again.
She’s No Help!
OP’s dad had had cancer for the last decade. However, even with OP’s sister living with him in the same apartment complex and her dad paying the “entirety” of her rent, OP and her husband were still “essentially forced” to move across their city three months before their wedding.
Her dad was starting his chemo treatments and needed help. Sadly, OP’s sister wasn’t any good in that department.
A Devoted Daughter
Despite being newly married, OP devoted the next three years of her life to caring for her dad.
She wrote, “I lost two jobs due to the time I needed to take off to care for him.”
Continuous Freeloading
All this time, OP’s sister continued to “mooch” and do “absolutely nothing” for her dad. OP was also the one expected to make medical decisions for him because he didn’t trust her sister not to try to “off him for his money.”
Rest in Peace, Dad
When OP wrote this story, her dad had died, and he had finally found peace. But against OP’s better judgment, she invited her sister to come and say her goodbyes.
Her Greed Shining Through
However, before people could take her dad from his apartment to the funeral home, her sister had already been demanding that she open and read his will.
OP wrote, “She insisted that Dad had been paying for her to try to finally earn her bachelor’s, and she needed $2,000. This amount changed to $3,000 within 24 hours. She started pointing at Dad’s belongings and said that she was ‘claiming items she wanted.’”
Nothing Left for Her
OP was the executor of her dad’s estate. When she finally read the will, she learned that her dad left everything to her except for a trust fund that he reserved for OP’s five-year-old niece.
She also noted that her sister couldn’t touch her daughter’s fund until her 21st birthday.

When OP’s sister learned about the will, she “lost her mind.” She started demanding that OP split what she got from him.
