A Videographer
Three years before this story was posted, OP worked as a freelance videographer doing social media content for a seven-figure company.
Low Wage
Even if he was working for a reputable company, he was only paid “roughly better than minimum wage.” At one point, he was also cranking out 50 videos a day!
Paying It No Mind
OP’s salary barely kept him afloat. However, he was freelancing and was on a “loose contract,” so he was desperate for the money.
How Did I Survive?
Now that OP thought about it, it was an “insane amount of work.”
He added, “However I managed to do it for six months is beyond me, especially for how s***** I was paid.”
Toxic Work Environment
Aside from the low wage, the office’s culture wasn’t great, either.
OP wrote, “The office was an incredibly bitter and snide place, and it was clear that management would purposely stir s*** to watch staff fight as a form of entertainment. I kept well away from it, but it was incredibly stressful on top of video work.”
Well-Deserved Raise
After six months of hard work, OP pitched to the “higher-ups” that his videos made an “insanely positive difference to their sales.” He even showed them graphs of interactions and direct links to sales on the website through his content.
He knew he deserved a pay raise, so he asked for one.
You’re Fired!
OP even compared his ideal salary to others in the industry and “made a big deal” about how it would still be less than how much he should actually be paid. He even said that, given everything, he still wanted to continue working for them.
However, hours after he made his request, OP was fired!
You’re on Your Own
The company told OP that he was “not pulling his weight.” They even told him his work “did not have the desired effect they wanted on social media.”
Struggles With Unemployment
OP was effectively unemployed. He was fuming with anger and struggled for months to find another job!

Now, years after he was fired, OP was browsing a “very old” Google Drive account. There, he discovered that the said company was still using a folder he had created and owned.
Stealing His Work
OP shared that they were “mostly active” in the files containing templates, adjustment layers, presets, and even a video OP created.

He also discovered that over 18 people were using his files and folder daily to continue their social media campaign.
OP wrote, “This was a cloud service that I was paying monthly for as I wanted extra space for my work.”
They Had It Coming!
Since it was OP’s Google Drive account and his work, he 100% owned everything it contained. So, he copied the files as a local version for himself and then deleted the online version.
He said, “Tomorrow, they will wake up with none of their video assets, including things they were working on. F*** them.”
