Teearra West is a woman who turned to TikTok to share something she recently experienced with a company that hired her. We all know about some hiring horror stories, but hers might just take the cake!
In her TikTok video, Teearra explained that a new company had just accepted her for an open role. However, when she showed up to the building on her first day, she started noticing a handful of concerning things.
An Immediate Response
Things that Teearra had observed were just so bad that she almost immediately turned around and walked away. It’s also worth noting that, at this point, she hadn’t even started working!
What a Disorganized Mess!
When she arrived at the office, one of the first things she noticed was how unprepared her employers were for her. She also received some warnings from other employees working at the company.
Making Small Talk
Upon her arrival at the building, she noticed that many of her new colleagues had been friends for a long time. When they saw Teearra, they immediately asked her if she had recently been hired.
Teearra confirmed their speculations, but she didn’t expect the employees to warn her that she wouldn’t like her new job.
We’ll Have You Wait
After this, the person who would be training her came out and gave her her badge. She thought she was going to start, but the trainer just told her to wait, saying she couldn’t enter the area at the moment.
He said, “Hey, we’re still waiting on a piece of your background to come back, so if you want to wait in the lobby, you can.”
This Is Unacceptable!
Teearra didn’t expect to be treated like this, so she immediately turned down the badge and the job. She then told the person that she was just going to go home.
She added, “I got another job anyway.”
The Need to Get Away
In a follow-up video, Teearra mentioned that she was only looking for a temporary second job until she started her new and more permanent one the following week. Teearra apparently left her old work because of some “racist s***.”
Her Needs
On top of this, Teearra West explained what happened in the company that made her want to leave immediately.
She said, “I applied for the job, and they hired me. After they hired me, they started sending me things like, ‘Do a background check,’ or ‘Do a drug test.’ Just typical stuff that you would do to get a job. I did all of that.”
The First Red Flag
However, she started noticing red flags when she asked the job recruiter how much her hourly pay would be. She was told three different numbers that weren’t what she initially thought she’d be paid for the position.
One of them said she’d be paid $16 an hour, and since Teearra was previously paid around $30 an hour plus commissions, this was one of the things that cemented the job as temporary in her mind.
No Working System
Then, Teearra’s recruiter kept asking her about her specimen number for her drug test, which she knew nothing about. She’s also been informed that they messed up her name in the system and in multiple forms, mixing up her maiden and married names.
Additionally, Teearra was asked to complete the I-9 form 12 times after she did so 12 times. She shared, “I had to keep filling it out because they kept not getting it somehow.”
Her First and Last Day
Everything was starting to “irritate” her, but after submitting those 12 forms, the company told her all her forms were in. She could finally come in and start working!
She arrived at the building on time, and they took their ID photo. This was also when she was told she had to wait until they finished her background check, leading to Teearra walking out.
All That Wasted Time
Teearra had just had enough of all the time that the company had wasted. She was annoyed and angry, especially since she was essentially told she couldn’t work yet when she’d already come in.
The company not only did not have any care for her time, but they also made her waste money on gas!
What a Nightmare Indeed!
Teearra mentioned that one of her close family friends who worked there said the job was a nightmare, and she couldn’t agree more.
She said, “After all the red flags, that was the final straw for me.”
No Excuses
For her, the company didn’t have any excuse when it came to them being unprepared.
Teearra said, “They should’ve been well-prepared because I’ve been waiting on this job for about two weeks, so they had plenty of time to get my things together and organize.”
