OP (Original Poster) never had a good relationship with his dad, but he doesn’t label him a bad person. However, he couldn’t say he was a good man either.
He said, “He stepped out on his wife and hooked up with my mom once—she didn’t have a clue he was married. Then I was born, but he had no idea.”
Tracking Him Down
Because it was a one-night stand, it took OP’s mom six to seven years to track his dad down. When she did, his dad’s wife found out about him cheating, and they almost divorced!
However, they ultimately decided to stay together, and OP’s dad told him he wanted to be part of his life.
Not Working
OP shared that his dad would come around “all the time,” take him out, and help his mom financially. This went on for a few years, and his dad tried to include him in stuff he’d do with his half-siblings, but it wasn’t working.
He wrote, “They didn’t like me, so they bullied me a lot. I met his wife a few times, and she was just nasty and mean. So after that, he stopped trying and went back to us doing our separate thing.”

When OP was 14, his dad started to try reaching out again, but everything that had happened with him and his mom was “still causing problems in their marriage.”
This didn’t last long either because when OP turned 15, his dad stopped coming around again.
