You’d never know who you’d come across in this Redditor’s line of work. But one lesson would always stick with him: never ever offend anyone from the wealthy elite!
Where He Worked

OP (Original Poster) worked at a marina with condos along the side. In his line of work, OP comes across many wealthy people.
Empty Marina Slip

One of their clients talked to them about a slip directly in front of one vacant condo where he could keep his boat. OP said, “It was a pretty tight-knit community, and we talked to the guy renting that slip about moving to another, and he had no problem.”
Incomplete Transaction

OP thought the transaction would be completed smoothly. But boy, was he wrong!
Everything was going great until the prospective tenant went to talk to the condo manager about renting the vacant unit.
Bad Personality

Unfortunately, the condo manager was “known for being a d***.” However, they never expected he would act like one to the prospective tenant.
He wrote, “No one thought he would actively be one to this guy for no apparent reason.”
Going Downhill

The condo manager told the prospective tenant that someone else was waiting for that particular condo and that he could not have it.
The prospective tenant would have had no issues moving to another unit a bit farther away from his boat. But OP said, “Apparently, this manager was just a straight-up d***head.”
One Month Later

OP forgot about the issue. However, a month later, he was surprised to see the prospective tenant moving into the condo directly in front of his boat.
He wrote, “I was a bit surprised, and I asked my boss about it, figuring the manager finally gave in or the ones who ‘reserved’ it backed out. Oh, but no!”
The Best Revenge Ever

OP’s boss told him that the guy was absolutely “p***ed!” So, he found out which organization owned the condo and bought out the whole complex!
Then, he promptly fired the rude manager.
One-On-One Conversation

One day, OP got to sit down and talk with the wealthy condo owner over beers. He asked why he didn’t just speak to the investment firm and get the condo manager fired.
Change of Plans

Unexpectedly, the new condo owner replied candidly.
He wrote, “He said he was going to but still wanted the condo, and once going over the financials, he realized he had a good return on investment. Plus, he then had the opportunity to do upgrades he would not have been able to by renting.”
He’s Actually a Nice Guy!

With their conversation, OP concluded that the wealthy condo owner was a “really nice guy.”
He said he would have never imagined someone like him to “go through all that just to spite an a**hole, but there you are.”
Lesson Learned!

For OP, there’s a critical takeaway from this petty revenge story.
He wrote, “Moral of the story is to never p*** off a man with enough money and will to buy a whole company just to fire you.”
The Community’s Pieces of Advice

Redditors were impressed with the way the new condo owner handled everything.
A top commenter wrote, “D***, that was well-played. Not only petty but a good financial investment.” Another replied, “The Crazy Rich Asians solution.”
Similar Turn of Events

Another Redditor shared his knowledge of a similar story that was shared on a different platform.
He said, “It reminds me of a story I heard from when Jerry Jones was building his new stadium. He wanted a type of marble that only came from a specific quarry in Italy, but there was a long wait, and he couldn’t move ahead in line. He bought the quarry, got his marble, then sold the quarry for a profit.”
People Are Judgmental

Some people noted that, sadly, others judge a person solely based on their clothes and physical appearance.
One shared, “I dress like I work as a laborer because I retired young and like to build things. It’s funny how people will treat you like a beggar due to your clothes. One interesting exception in my experience is high-end car dealerships. I guess they’ve seen enough shabbily dressed guys pay for a new Porsche with cash to know better.”
What do you think of OP’s story? What can you say about the way the new condo owner went about things?
