A Karen Illegally Occupied Two Parking Spaces for Disabled People. Furious, She Reported Her to the Manager, Called the Cops, and Got Her Fined $1,000!

She’s so tired of entitled people parking in spaces not meant for them. So, when she saw one parked in not one, but two spaces, she decided she wouldn’t let it go!

Someone’s Above the Rules

OP (Original Poster) has a disabled parking placard, and several weeks before sharing this story, she went to Target to, in her words, “buy things she didn’t need and forget the things she did.”

However, not only were the parking spaces taken, but someone also parked their gigantic Escalade right on the line between two spaces for disabled people, taking up both.

Sadly, It’s Common

OP was completely irritated because this kind of thing happens so much. She walked around the car and found no placard or disabled plate.

Fired by the fury of someone who has to deal with such a thing all the time, OP decided to act on it. She took a photo and went inside the establishment to find the manager.

When she found the manager, OP showed her the photo, and she rolled her eyes and sighed.

Apparently, it happens a lot at their place, as it’s near a wealthy town with many rich, entitled people, and they’re often owners of huge SUVs and F-150s who “park like jerks.”

Informing the Authorities

After that, the manager said she’d call the police. So, OP decided to go back outside and stand by the doors to watch “the show.”

The manager joined her, and they talked for a while as they were waiting for the cops.

When they finally arrived, the cops walked around the car, peered through the windows, and ran the plate. One of the cops took out a notebook and started writing.

OP added, “They took some photos, and one came over and asked if they’d make an announcement in the store to get the driver outside. The manager radioed someone inside and asked them to announce the make and model and plate of the car over the PA system.”

Lo and Behold

Several minutes later, the car’s owner came “charging” out of the store, yelling at the police. She was a middle-aged, well-dressed woman OP described as the “common Karen of North America.”

As soon as she neared her car, one cop held his hand to shut her up and lectured her. OP was too far away to hear, but she could see that the woman had already stopped yelling.

For a few minutes, the police spoke to the woman, and one of them with the notebook handed her two papers. When she got them, she looked absolutely “apoplectic.”

OP wrote, “The cops came back over and spoke to the manager, telling her they ordered her to move her car and if she didn’t or caused problems in the store to call them back, and they’d tow the car. They told us they gave her two tickets for each space—at $500 each. Ouch.”

Afterward, the manager thanked OP and the police and went back inside. On the other hand, the woman stomped around a bit before getting in her car and driving away.

Learned Your Lesson, Karen?

The cops looked at each other, got in their cars, and followed the woman. OP’s sure she continued to have “the day she deserved.”

A Good Person’s Reward

Meanwhile, OP happily treated herself to some LEGOs for doing “good public service.”

In an edit, she added, “It felt really good to watch someone get actual consequences for their bad behavior—something seemingly rare these days. Maybe not as petty as this sub usually sees, but definitely revenge.”

Main Character Energy

All in all, OP is disheartened by how entitled and selfish people have been getting. Where’s common courtesy when you need it?

She said, “I swear, people have gotten so selfish and entitled over the last few years. They just do not care how their actions affect other people; they are always the main character.”

Redditors’ Thoughts and Suggestions

People commended OP for what she did and are glad someone like her won’t let such a thing slide.

A Redditor wrote, “As the daughter of a disabled father who needs a van space to get out in his wheelchair, thank you!”

Another person said, “As someone who needs the wider spaces to open the car door fully or my hip locks painfully while trying to get out of the car, thank you so much. People who park in disabled parking bays without a valid badge really tick me off.”

Getting What They Deserve

Some Redditors shared what they did when they saw others doing what the Karen did in OP’s story.

“We live in an apartment complex. I was raised with a disabled brother, and my mother-in-law uses a placard. Whenever some entitled idiot takes a spot, we call the cops and take great pleasure in watching them come out to their cars to a $200 plus ticket that has to be paid in 30 days, or it’s jail,” a commenter shared.

Feeling Ashamed

Others noted that it’s okay to make mistakes sometimes. But if it’s deliberate and you don’t feel guilty about it, then something’s wrong with you.

Someone from the community said, “Good for you! I once parked in a disabled space in a deserted service station. A disabled person showed up. I never felt so tiny in my life. People who park in disabled spots are scum.”

Are you brave enough to do what OP did? Have you ever encountered someone like the Karen she came across at Target?
