She’s Sick of Her Neighbor and His Criminal Friends Stealing Countless Packages From Her. So, After Years of Holding Out, She Got Them Arrested and Evicted!

This Redditor is fed up with her neighbor and his friends. She had the perfect revenge in mind and couldn’t have hoped it would go much better than it did!

Neighbor Problems

OP (Original Poster) had had a problem with her neighbor for years. She said he’d terrorize the area along with his friends.

Her neighbor is a drug addict and dealer; therefore, many “unsavory” people were popping up in their area. They would break into cars and houses and also steal packages.

Proof of Their Crime

She was sure that it was her neighbor. After all, he once confessed it to her.

OP had also seen him and his friends in other neighbors’ CCTV cameras, showing how they’d damage cars and more.

They would also steal bank cards that came in the mail and make a lot of loud, obnoxious noises throughout the night.

OP said, “His friends or fiends almost always ring my bell in the dead of night, around 2 to 3 AM. I’ve shouted at them so many times and have argued with him, too.”

His History

OP also said that her neighbor had been in prison multiple times for various things, including “very serious crimes.”

Because of that, OP said, “He would do well to keep his head low as a free man, you’d think.”

House Configuration

She went on to explain how their apartment had been set up. OP mentioned that they lived in a house converted into a four-unit apartment, and they had a main area on the ground floor to “walk through or get mail.”

Free to Come and Go

Because of the apartment’s setup, OP had asked her neighbor to keep the main door closed. However, he never listened and kept it open so his friends would be free to come and go.

OP wrote, “Sometimes they’d kick the door down and trash the area.”

Stolen in Seconds

Whenever OP got a package when she wasn’t home, the delivery men would leave her stuff unattended in the front garden or the main area. When this happens, her packages will get stolen in seconds!

She’d asked them not to do so, but the couriers wouldn’t listen. OP said, “This went on for years, and when confronted, he’d deny it, but I knew it was him—the other two apartments are old people who I am friendly with who also dislike him.”

Going Nowhere

OP is understandably upset, but the problem was that she never got actual, concrete proof that they were stealing her packages.

She shared, “I once called the police after he wrote a note to me apologizing for his friend stealing my package, but that went nowhere.”

£250 Worth of Packages

OP had packages worth around £250, and she wouldn’t allow her neighbor or his friends to get a hold of them. So, she sneakily set up a camera in the main area.

She baited them with old boxes from other packages and placed an apple and some plastic inside for some weight. OP set the boxes in the main area, and within five minutes, they were stolen by one of his neighbor’s friends who hadn’t seen the camera.

Calling the Cops

Now that she had proof, OP was confident to call the police. They commended her skills and came over, but by the time they arrived, the guy who stole her fake packages was already out of the building.

She said he’d already left “with packed bags that were definitely filled with drugs to sell.” The cops said they would look out for him.

Fast Forward

A couple of weeks later, OP got a call from the cops—possibly to update her. So, she also told them she was 100% sure her neighbor was selling “class A drugs” and had been “terrorizing” the area.

So, the police told her they’d also look out for him.

Five Days Later

Five days after her last conversation with the police, she got another call. Around seven in the morning, an officer called her, asking her to open her door quickly and quietly.

Gotcha!

OP opened the door for the officer, and she went in. She saw around 15 officers dressed in plain clothes in their hallway.

She shared, “I look through the peephole, and they all storm inside, boot down his door, and arrest everyone inside. It was basically a crackhouse.”

Caught on Camera

OP mentioned that everything had been caught on her camera, so she sent a copy to her landlord. The police also contacted the landlord, so it was no surprise that her neighbor got evicted.

She said, “This was a month ago. None of his mail has been picked up, and I’m getting a lot of joy out of this. Moral of the story? Keep your hands to yourself.”

What Redditors Think

In humor-filled comments, Redditors shared advice for people like OP’s neighbor.

He said, “Only do one crime at a time. If someone is dealing drugs, it would be best if they were the most law-abiding driver on the streets.” Then, one replied, “Don’t s*** where you eat.”

Others’ Experiences

Some users shared that they also, at one point, had a neighbor who dealt with drugs but had never experienced any problems with them. They shared that, for people like them, it was a must to lay low.

One shared, “He does that to stay under the radar, so to speak. Doesn’t want a police presence there. My neighbor did the same for years; never had any crime in the area because he put the word out. He kept things quiet, so none of the neighbors ever reported him. We also knew but had no proof.”

Have you experienced something similar? What advice would you give OP?
