A “Tattoo-Addicted ” Mom Was Banned From Her Kids’ School Events and Told She Could Watch “Through the Window ” Because Her Face’s All Inked Up. It’s “Discrimination,” and She Should Sue!

She’s covered in tattoos and loves getting them, but apparently, that stops her from being a supportive mom. She’s prone to ridicule and judgment, and people can’t accept her the way she is!

Melissa Sloan is a 45-year-old mother and considers herself a “tattoo addict.” She’s so addicted to the art that she has decided she won’t stop with the tattoos until her entire body is covered.

In an interview with The Sun, a news outlet, Melissa stated, “I’ll keep going as long as I live.”

Consequences of Her Lifestyle

Many people know the saying, “You only live once,” and that’s what Melissa lives by. She stands by it even though it sometimes affects her parenting, including being prohibited from attending her kid’s school play.

Persona Non Grata

Melissa shared that when she arrived at her children’s school, the teachers there refused to give her a seat in the auditorium and told her to “go back to the garden.” Their statement was a clear reference to the flower tattoos on Melissa’s face.

According to Melissa, the teachers told her to “look through the class window,” which is one of the many reasons behind her missing her kids’ events at school.

Perceiving Her as Unusual

She was also banned from the grounds because of the blatant stares of other parents and children. The disturbed faces and oddity surrounding her physical appearance make her feel uncomfortable.

A Makeshift

As an alternative, Melissa sends her partner, Luke, to events.

She said, “He’s going tonight to the kids’ fair as I can’t go there as I’m not wanted. I feel so jealous as I can’t go there and to the Christmas fair as I know what they, the teachers and parents, are like toward me.”

In the Way of Everything

In the past, Melissa made the news when she claimed she could not get a job because of her face tattoos. In an interview with The Mirror, she said, “I still can’t get a job because of my tattoos. I can’t even go into pubs around here because of it.”

Criminal-Like Features

She also mentioned being unable to go to the bank for the same reason.

She said, “I was in a bank once, and they thought I was going to rob the bank because they looked at me, and I got the tattoos. They got scared.”

Uncomfortable With Her Choices

Until today, many people say her tattoos are offensive. They tell Melissa that they don’t like her tattoos, and they “upset” them.

However, it’s her body, and Melissa doesn’t pay them any mind.

My Life, My Rules

Despite all the ridicule and criticism Melissa has received, she refuses to stop living her life the way she wants. In fact, she still gets inked three times a week.

What the Community Has to Say

It’s great that she’s confident in her own skin. However, tons of people said that Melissa made terrible choices, and she’s now facing the consequences.

A commenter said, “Choices have consequences, especially bad choices.”

Someone else wrote, “There are consequences to every action. If you aren’t willing to accept the negative ones, then perhaps it is time to rethink your obsession with tattoos.”

Other people claim that Melissa is an attention-seeker, which might be why she gets tattoos.

Someone said, “Don’t do things like that if you don’t want to draw attention. It’s common sense!”

“I think she’s narcissistic and wants to draw attention. But that’s just me,” another one wrote.

Someone to Look Up To

There were also people who said that Melissa should be a better role model to her kids. But then, no one can really know how her children feel about her.

One person said, “Poor kids have this as a role model, too. Grow up, lady, and set a better example. No sympathy.”

Another one replied, “Set a better example. Probably too late, but we have no idea what any of her kids think or feel about her.”

She’s Gone Too Far

Some said that getting tattoos is okay; they are a work of art, after all. However, there are instances that they can be too much.

Someone said, “I personally believe that tattoos can be beautiful works of art. But just like anything else, they can be taken too far. This lady has obviously done just that. I don’t feel that the school can be blamed for keeping her out when her tattoos could easily frighten children who are not used to seeing them.”

Stop Discrimination!

There were also a handful of people who were on her side. These users called everyone out for judging Melissa’s choices and tattoos and said nothing was wrong with it.

One commenter wrote, “We all have issues. At least she isn’t hurting anyone or posting or yelling hateful things. She just wants to live. What’s so wrong about it? Also, please, someone give me a legitimate reason why she should be discriminated against. Give me one good reason, and no, personal opinion doesn’t count! Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean you need to hate it. Guess what? I don’t like your posh clothing and your perfume. You look like you are better than everyone else. Go sit outside. Do you see how that sounds?”

Another person shared, “I don’t know why she hasn’t sued. I think she looks terrible, but on a basic civil rights basis, the school doesn’t have a right to keep her out.”

What do you think of this story? Are Melissa’s tattoos too much?
