Strict Dress Code
OP (Original Poster) and his wife got married the Wednesday before this story was posted, and he shared that the ceremony was “amazing.”
Before the wedding, they were very strict on the fact that no guests were allowed to wear white.
An Understandable Demand

Sour Start to the Reception
The ceremony was great, and the reception was going well, too. However, when OP noticed his wife walking to the bathroom with her face held in her hands, everything changed.

Because they’d been together for three years, he knew his wife was upset even from afar. OP noted that he would always notice it when she changed her demeanor.
A Shoulder to Cry On
He immediately jumped into action and rushed across the room to get to his wife. When he got to the bathroom, he knocked and informed his wife that he was the one standing at the door.

OP asked her what was wrong, and his wife told him that one of their nephews was wearing white pants and a white bowtie.

When he heard this, he immediately thought that she was “overreacting.” After all, their nephew was only six and had no idea that a person shouldn’t wear white to a wedding.

He added, “She eventually texted her sister to come to the bathroom and fix her makeup so she could go back out and have a good night.”

After a while, OP noticed that his wife was talking to her sister, the mom of the six-year-old boy. He thought that they were just making a conversation.
However, he wasn’t prepared for what was about to happen next!

About an hour after he saw his wife and sister talking, OP’s sister approached him, pulled him aside, and “berated” him for his wife’s behavior.
OP wrote, “She said my wife had asked her and her son to leave unless she had a change of clothes for him.”
Blowing the Fuse
In no way was this okay to OP, so he asked his wife to talk. He then explained everything his sister said, asking for her side.
Instead of apologizing and acknowledging her mistake, OP’s wife just said she was “completely in the right” to do what she did.
If They’re Out, I’m Out
However, OP wouldn’t stand down. He told her that if she kicked his family out of his wedding, he would “happily leave,” too.
After this, OP’s wife started crying, saying this was “her” day and she didn’t want it to be “ruined” by OP’s six-year-old nephew.

OP’s had enough, so he told his wife that she wasn’t only “selfish,” but she was also “insanely insecure” to be worried about a six-year-old upstaging her and looking better than her.
Not in Marital Bliss
OP’s wife had been staying with her mom since the wedding, and neither has spoken to the other. Then, the morning this story was posted, his mother-in-law reached out to him, saying he needed to apologize for being “out of line.”
However, for OP, he didn’t do anything wrong. He said, “I really don’t believe I’m in the wrong here, so what do you think? Am I the a**hole?”
