Her Daughter’s Suspension
Traci Hull is a mom of a 12-year-old girl, Morgan, who found herself face-to-face with her daughter’s school. Her 12-year-old received multiple “internal suspensions” because her pants were supposedly too tight.
Violating School Rules
Traci received an email from her daughter’s school in November 2015. The email stated that Morgan had violated the school’s dress code.
Because of her supposed violation, her daughter was taken out of class and was given an internal suspension by the school’s supervisors.
What Was She Wearing?
However, people would be surprised to know what Morgan was actually wearing for her to be suspended!
The 12-year-old was completely decent in a pair of dark blue skinny jeans. However, the problem was that she was given an in-school suspension instead of just a warning, which was what she should have received.
One More Try
There wasn’t anything wrong with jeans. So, the next day, Morgan wore a different pair of pants to school.
However, she was once again suspended for violating the dress code!
Coming to School
Traci had had enough of the school’s bullying toward her daughter. So, she met with the assistant principal of the Franklin Township middle school to fight for her daughter’s rights.
However, the assistant principal stood by the supposed dress code violation. He even reiterated that Morgan’s pants were too tight, so she was not allowed to attend class.

The issue had blown up, and Traci and Morgan were even in the news!
A reporter from RTV6 news said, “She is completely covered. There’s no cleavage or anything exposed.”
The School’s Focus
Schools shouldn’t be focusing on kids’ pants and whatnot. They should focus on providing the children with a good quality of comprehensive education.

When Traci was interviewed, she said, “She is behind in school, and we are spending now two days focused on pants that are too tight. It is unfathomable to me that there is this big of an issue with her dress code and not her education.”
According to her, Morgan had been wearing the same pair of “too-tight” pants since the start of the school year. However, it was only in November that they were informed of a dress code violation.
Hard to Find New Clothes
Traci agreed to find new clothes for her daughter. However, since Morgan is “extremely petite,” finding clothes that would fit her was difficult.
She said, “It’s dumbfounding; I just don’t get it.”
Denied Access
After she met with the assistant principal, Traci tried to meet with the school district’s superintendent, Dr. Flora Reichanadter. Sadly, she had been “denied access.”
Conversely, Dr. Flora Reichanadter reached out to RTV6 and said she believed in “maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.”
Praising Their School District
Dr. Flora Reichanadter continued and exclaimed that Franklin Township was a “high-performing school district.” She added, “There are and will be times in which some styles of clothing are not appropriate or conducive to the school environment and should be kept as an option outside of school.”
Even so, it was unfortunate that school officials were more concerned with what their female students wore than how they performed in class.
Confusing Decision
Seeing what Morgan wore to school, it was hard to understand the school’s reason for suspension. After all, she wore jeans that didn’t even have holes; they covered her legs completely!
Further Investigation
Dr. Flora Reichanadter said, “Our school handbook is very specific regarding the dress code for middle school students.”
However, for an office employee who reviewed Morgan’s “offensive” outfit, her clothes were appropriate for school. The employee also confirmed that Morgan’s multiple dress code violations would be “investigated further.”
The Opposite Outcome
While the school remained firm in saying that they enforced a strict dress code to keep the school environment “safe and orderly” for students, it seemed like it had the opposite effect. Take Morgan as an example; she’d already missed multiple days in a row, and the supposed violations had disrupted her learning environment.
School officials should focus more on dealing with teachers’ struggles when it comes to low wages, supply shortages, and more. They should not exert all their time and effort on pinpointing clothes that are fit to be worn to school or not.
