OP (Original Poster), Jessi Vines, posted a TikTok video with over 5,000,000 views, showing her daughter’s outfit to school.
Before posting, Jessi received a call from her daughter’s school, saying that she had been dress-coded and would need a change of clothes. When she finally arrived at the principal’s office, she couldn’t believe her kid was sent there for such clothing.
Clothed From Top to Bottom
The teenager wore Converse shoes, high-waisted jeans, a white T-shirt, and a jacket wrapped around her waist. The only parts of her skin showing were her arms and the little gap between her shoes and the hem of her jeans.
Is Three Centimeters a Bother?
Jessi’s daughter was dress-coded while her jacket was placed around her waist, and even if she wasn’t wearing it, only three centimeters of her stomach would be visible. So, Jessi was absolutely shocked and disgusted that her child was called to the principal’s office over her appropriate outfit.

In her video, Jessi referred to dress codes as “outdated” and “s*****.” Aside from that, it sends the wrong message to children.
She added, “Stop teaching children that covering up is more important than learning.”

She then blamed the school districts for not paying their staff reasonably enough and letting minor issues such as this matter become huge.
She captioned, “If schools would pay their educators their worth, we wouldn’t have low lives crawling the schools looking for a reason to disrupt kids’ days. Focus on what matters and do better.”

After a while, Jessi posted another video showing more detail about how her daughter was dress-coded. This time, the teenager spoke for herself, explaining that she was having lunch at the cafeteria when the lunch aide approached her.
She was instructed to throw her food away and report to the principal’s office—all because of her outfit.
Clueless About the Issue
Jessi’s daughter said she was confused since her stomach was barely showing. As a student sitting at her desk almost the entire day, there was so little chance that the other students would notice it.
Plus, she was wearing her jacket when she arrived at school. She said that since it was below freezing outside, there was a high chance she’d be wearing it the whole day—further hiding the three centimeters of stomach skin exposed.

In the video’s caption, Jessi mentioned that if the school worries about three centimeters of skin, that’s a “them problem” and not hers. She also shared that her daughter’s outfit was pre-approved by her before she went to school.
