His Mom Told Him He’s “Disgusting” and Tried to Ruin His Wedding by Causing a Scene. So, He Kicked Her Out and Called Her a “Horrible Mother”

He tried his best to be considerate of his mom, but this time, he believed she’d gone too far, so he kicked her out of his wedding. The internet says he did the right thing!

Coming Out

OP (Original Poster) is a 28-year-old transgender male. In his post, he shared that he came out to his mom in college, but she didn’t support his decision.

It’s hard for most to be honest about who they are because of the possible judgment they’ll face from society. However, it’s even more complicated if their very parents are the ones who shun them for being true to themselves.

OP’s mom was like that. In his post, he said, “Her stance on it is that if I am born female, I will always be a female.”

Time Did Not Change Anything

Over the years, OP’s mom’s attitude toward him did not change. So, she didn’t take it well when OP told his mom he was engaged.

She told him, “I don’t like that you’re going to marry a girl. That’s disgusting.”

Understandably, OP was hurt by his mom’s response. Even so, he and his fiancé decided they would still invite OP’s mom to their wedding.

After all, she’s still an important part of OP’s life.

Surprise, Surprise!

Surprisingly, OP’s mom said she would come to see OP on his big day. He shared that the wedding ceremony was going great, but problems started when it was time for the reception.

That’s “Disgusting!”

During the reception, OP’s mom started causing drama. As if causing a scene on their wedding day was not enough, she took it further and voiced her feelings about her son.

OP shared, “My mom came up to me and told me how disgusting I was for kissing a girl, and she didn’t raise her ‘daughter’ to be this way.”

I’ve Had Enough!

At this point, OP has had enough of his mom being abusive toward him. So, even if it was during his wedding, he voiced out all his frustrations and hurt.

He told her he’s “had enough” of her being a “horrible mother.” He also branded her as a “verbally abusive” person who tormented him and had “never been supportive” of his life choices.

OP then told his mom to “get the hell out” and never to contact him again. OP’s mom was eventually escorted out of the venue.

He added, “It made such a huge scene that I was slightly embarrassed, but it felt so good to let all my anger out.”

Guilt-Tripping Him

OP thought that that would be the end of it. However, during his honeymoon, he began to receive messages from his family, slamming him for doing something like that to his own mother.

They said things like, “At least she turned up,” and more. These messages had left OP feeling “slightly guilty.”

Redditors’ Opinions

Redditors called OP’s mom out for acting without common courtesy during the wedding, even if she had her own beliefs and opinions about their union.

“If you go to a wedding, you should have common decency and be nice to the married couple—definitely not say that it makes you sick,” one Redditor wrote.

People also comforted OP, saying that his relatives didn’t have the right to guilt-trip him for whatever he did.

A top commenter said, “Your relatives think you should be grateful she turned up even though she only turned up to cause a scene and be nasty to you? Not the a**hole.” Another shared, “I don’t understand the family. He didn’t make them uncomfortable; she started a scene, the victim who is man enough to stand up for himself and call out a bigot is an awesome thing to see, not something awkward to chastise.”

What’s Wrong With What OP’s Doing?

Redditors also called out OP’s mom and his relatives for being transphobic.

One said, “They are transphobic, and that’s disgusting, not the OP. What is wrong with a young man marrying the lady he loves?” Another wrote, “When you were pregnant, and people asked ‘Do you want a boy or a girl,’ you probably responded, ‘I don’t care as long as they are healthy and happy!’ Now your child is older and becoming the person they were meant to be, and you should want the same thing—for them to be healthy and happy.”

Your Mom Did It on Purpose

People also said that they believe OP’s mom showed up with a purpose—to destroy OP’s happy day.

“She showed up specifically so she could attack OP at the reception; that wasn’t showing up as a sign of support or even just showing up and staying silent so people could pretend she was showing love for OP. It was straight-up vile. Not the a**hole, OP. Tell all of them off, then block them.”

What do you think about the issue? How would you respond if you were in OP’s shoes and your mom came to destroy your big day?
