This Redditor was so ready to celebrate his birthday. However, his party almost got ruined when his cousin’s pregnant wife decided to do a gender reveal out of nowhere!
A Surprise Party
OP (Original Poster) celebrated his birthday two weeks before this story was posted. He explained that his mom planned a surprise party for him since she had a spare key to his house.
Party Guests
Some of those invited included OP’s 26-year-old cousin and his 26-year-old pregnant wife.
He shared, “I don’t have anything against my cousin, but I do with his wife.”
Not-So-Pleasant History
OP shared that his cousin used to live with him when he was in college. When his cousin was in his third year, he met his now-wife.
He wrote, “It was all fine until, in his last year of college, his girlfriend moved in with us.”
Crazy Girlfriend
Everything was fine for the first few weeks. However, things immediately took a turn for the worse when OP found out his cousin’s then-girlfriend was coming into his room without permission and stealing money from him!
Kicking Them Out
OP confronted her about it, but she denied anything related to the incident. Sadly, it kept on happening even two weeks after OP first found out about it.
He eventually had enough, so OP kicked them out.
Strained Relationship
There weren’t any apparent issues with OP and his cousin’s relationship. However, he did note that they’d barely talked to each other, apart from his cousin’s wedding.
Catching Up
However, OP and his cousin started rekindling their relationship during his birthday party.
OP wrote, “Me and my cousin were catching up with each other. It was all going good until I said, ‘How has yours and your wife’s life been after the wedding?’”
None of Your Business
OP knew his cousin was about to say something. However, his wife suddenly interrupted and said, “Stop being nosy. That’s none of your business.”
He then apologized and walked away.
What Are You Scheming?
At this point, OP was talking to his mom when he saw his cousin leave to go to his car. He then came back with a giant balloon.
OP’s cousin’s wife then said, “Listen up, everybody. I have an announcement to make. We will be doing our gender reveal here.”
No, You’re Not!
OP immediately disagreed with the plan and told her to stop pushing it. However, his cousin’s wife said, “You can’t stop me. Bring the balloon.”
Putting an End to Things
As OP’s cousin walked up to his wife, OP grabbed the gender reveal balloon out of his hand. He let it fly away without popping it!
You’re Out!
He then returned to the party and kicked his cousin and his wife out. OP got yelled at by his cousin for “ruining” their gender reveal, and his wife started crying.
OP shared, “Half of the guests leave and say I’m a bad person for what I did.”
Am I Wrong?
OP hasn’t talked to his cousin and his wife since. Unfortunately, his family still thinks he’s a “bad person” because of what transpired during his birthday party.
Now he’s asking, “Am I the a**hole?”
