Childhood Trauma
When OP (Original Poster) was a young teenager, her biological mom kidnapped her and told her that her dad wasn’t her birth father.
However, she didn’t think anything of it at this time because she was a “druggy, alcoholic piece of s***.”
The Heartbreaking Truth
Then, in 2018, OP took an ancestry DNA test, which later linked her with a half-brother. She also found her biological father through this test.
Lying by Omission
OP, however, never told her dad about this because she loved him very much and didn’t care that she wasn’t his biological child. She instead told her little sister, who’s 28 now, “in confidence” because she came with her to meet her half-brother for safety purposes.
Family Inheritance
Sadly, the man who raised her, and the only one she considered her dad, passed away. The land and buildings he owned were to be split 50/50 between her and her sister.
Then, their little brother, who was 26 now, was to get the family business and all the equipment.
A Promise to Herself
However, deep down, OP felt guilty about everything. So, she made a promise to herself before that whatever she inherited would be transferred to her little brother.
She wrote, “My dad was legally blind, and while my sister and I left to start our own lives, my little brother stayed at the homestead and took care of dad. So, I thought it was only fair that he gets everything.”
Sister’s Crumbling Mental Health
Additionally, OP’s younger sister and their dad never got along. He always cared for her, but she had a few mental disorders that complicated things.
Two Against One
Another thing OP considered was the fact that her sister wanted to sell everything, kick their brother out of the only home he’s ever known, take the cash, and leave everything behind.
On the other hand, OP and her brother were in agreement that he should remain on the home’s property and take care of their dad’s business.
A Turning Point
Because of OP’s decision to leave everything to her brother, her sister now thinks she’s the “biggest a**hole of all time.”
OP added, “She also went around and told anyone who would listen—we grew up in a small town—that I wasn’t his daughter and I deserve nothing.”
Protecting His Legacy
After OP’s sister tarnished her name, she once again said that if OP didn’t want her inheritance, it should go to both her and their brother.
But no matter what she did or will do, OP will never give in. She and her brother want to protect and keep everything their dad worked for, and she wants to sell it all; this is something she would never stand for.
