OP and Her Irresponsible Sister
OP (Original Poster) is a 22-year-old with a 25-year-old sister, Mia, who had just given birth to her 7-month-old son. Unfortunately, her son’s father is not in his life.
Pillar of Financial Support
She explained that he “basically dipped” the week the baby was born. Since then, OP has been supporting Mia and her son financially.
OP planned to do so until Mia got back on her feet, held down a job, and could pay the bills on her own.
Exciting News for One, Dreadful for Another
However, two days before this story was posted, Mia called OP excitedly. She told her that she had “big news.”
OP wrote, “Deep down in my heart, I already knew what she was about to say, and my intuition was confirmed when she said she was pregnant again.”
What a Nice Guy!
Mia then went on and on about meeting a new guy—whom she hadn’t told OP about—who was so “nice” in how he treated her and the baby.
She also told OP that she feels like he’s “the one” and that she can’t wait for the family she was “supposed to have.”
Making Her Face the Truth
After this, OP “basically laid it out to her.”
She told OP that she hadn’t been dating the guy long. Yet, she’s already pregnant and wants to marry him—simply because he treated her and the baby “nicely.”
Not Enough to Sustain Them
Apart from this, the guy wasn’t helping her sister with bills or providing for her in any way.
She added, “This was not likely to last, and she’ll be a single mom of two. Not to mention how dangerous it is to get pregnant this soon after giving birth.”
A Furious Sister
When Mia heard what OP said, she got angry. She told OP she was being “fake” and she “wasn’t acting like family.”
Mia also told her she should support her just like their mom did.
Kissing Up
OP found out that their mom was actually “kissing her a**,” and she was “enforcing the rose-colored glasses” that Mia had on the situation.
Their mom was apparently telling her stories of how their stepdad only knew her for two months before he married her.
The Final Straw
For OP, this was where she drew the line.
She shared, “I told her that I can’t support her or any other children should she decide to go through with this.”

Furious at how irresponsibly her sister acted, OP told Mia that she would no longer support her and her family.
OP wrote, “I essentially said, ‘I’m not pressuring you into anything. This is your choice, but I refuse to be financing this choice. You’re on your own, Mia. I can’t enable you digging yourself further in holes you can’t climb out of the ‘cause of irresponsible unplanned pregnancies, and I refuse to.’”

At this, Mia started crying and getting upset. She didn’t take it well and said OP didn’t want her to be happy!
Sister and Mom’s Hurtful Words
Mia also told OP she was a “b****” and then hung up on her. Now, her mom’s also angry, making her feel bad about what she said.
OP wrote, “I do feel bad. I don’t think I worded it the best, nor should I have called her irresponsible. I’m just at my breaking point. Am I the a**hole?”
